Hello people. Well, I guess I'll let you good folks in on my little project. About a year and a half ago I acquired a vintage
white 1996 Mexican Squier Fat Strat. Well, I liked it and everything, but decided I'd fix it up. So, now comes the pictures.
First is the guitar itself, in it's original form:
Now disassembled and partially stripped.
Now with the finish all almost gone.
And now completely stripped and taken apart.
Well, at this point in the process I decided that I like the look of the wood. So I assembled it and decided to keep it with
the natural look, like pictured below.
Well, recently I decided I really want to fix this thing. In the long run it will mean a new finish (and body art provided
by Lexi :)), a new neck, new hardware, new electronics, and everything. This will be a long going project, considering I will
need to save for cash to fund it all, but I'm bound to finish it this time. So a while ago I disassembled the guitar and put
the first coat of primer on the guitar. Here are a couple pics.
Now in the past couple weeks I've applied another coat of primer and a couple coats of blue finish and sanded them down. I
plan to apply a couple more coats of paint (blue and black to darken it up), have Lexi do the artwork, then finish up with
clearcoat and assemble it all. Tonight I ordered all the new hardware and electronics and just need the new neck. Here's how
it looks now; blue and sanded.
Btw, I plan to update this every step along the way.
